About the 40 mg strength
Tadalafil for erection problems is normally prescribed between 5 and 20 mg. A 40 mg tablet is above that range, and a 40 mg daily dose is standard treatment for a lung circulation condition rather than for erections. Nothing on this site should be read as suggesting you pick a 40 mg tablet for yourself.

Get help the same day for
- An erection that will not go down after four hours.
- Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes.
- Sudden loss of hearing, with or without ringing and dizziness.
- Chest pain, fainting, or swelling of the face and throat.
Tell whoever treats you that you have taken tadalafil. It changes what they can safely give you, particularly if they were about to give you a nitrate for chest pain.
The interactions that matter most
Do not take tadalafil with nitrates of any kind, including angina sprays, patches and tablets, and including poppers. Do not take it with riociguat. Alpha blockers, blood pressure tablets, some antibiotics and antifungals, and heavy drinking all change the picture. Kidney and liver problems change what dose is sensible. Your doctor or pharmacist needs the full list of what you take, including anything bought over the counter.
